Abstract inspired by Jean-Pierre Lafrance

This work was inspired by the painting style of Jean- Pierre LaFrance. He is a Quebec abstract artist with international recognition. The idea behind Lafrance's work is spiritual. He paints without a plan and through intution. His work is a reflection of the body and its relationship to the universe. The concept of his work includes levels of acrylic and playing with drying times. He makes mixed media paintings with acrylic as its base. Usually, he creates his work in 24 hours. Personally, I took more than 24 hours to create this work, but I did try to paint continuously taking only breaks of maximum 4 hours. This painting was mainly made with acrylic mixed with gel gloss medium and gel molding paste. There are some beads and black obsidian stones in the work as well which you can find in the center of some of the shapes. Black obsidian is a stone for power, protection and grounding. Black obsidian is associated with the root chakra which tethers you to the here and now and gives a sense of strength and confidence. The colors in the work include neon yellow, neon pink, blue, green, magenta, bright purple, gold an neon orange.
