SWEET WILLIE

A dry brush watercolor copy of a photograph of SWEET WILLIE, one of my heroes. QUOTE BY EMERSON."NATURE FOREVER PUTS A PREMIUM ON REALITY. WHAT IS DONE FOR EFFECT IS SEEN TOO BE DONE FOR EFFECT; WHAT IS DONE FOR LOVE IS FELT TO BE DONE FOR LOVE. A MAN INSPIRES AFFECTION AND HONOR BECAUSE HE WAS NOT LYING IN WAIT FOR THESE". paintography by MIchael Forbus (miguel)

Willie Nelson a national treasure , Michael awesome effects lovely piece of art. Bless with talent and great idea.

Artist Reply: Mildred, my total appreciation for your kind comments and from Willie as well. He is playing a benefit in our little town this weekend and the proceeds go to a mutual friend whose wife needs a liver transplant and also to a home to take care of aging and indigent musicians. There is much that he does to give back to humankind that is not published. He is a humble and multi-talented humanitarian and you are right, a national treasure. My gratitude to you. Michael

Exceptional work, Michael. He's looking down.., has an expression of a deep sadness... The blend of color and shading is excellent. Wonderful texture. Regards, NG

Artist Reply: Natalie, my feeling from the image is that he is being pensive, he is after all, a very deep thinking man and is not the person that people imagine him to be. He is very spiritual and a global humanitarian and a great human being. Never mind if one likes his music. A more sincere and giving human was not created. He is doing a concert here in our little town, a small and intimate concert as a donation to a mutual friend of ours whose wife needs a liver transplant and since our friend is in the Willie family, he also is responsible for putting many great concerts in town, and Willie is playing to benefit them in their time of need. Great and humane gesture. So I painted this as if he is thinking deeply as opposed to being sad although you could see that in his face. thank you so much for your kindness and comments. You are very kind and I am grateful. Michael

monique cooper 16 Oct 2007

ok.. i hate willie.....his voice grates my nerves so bad... but Hun... this is an most impressive image!!!.. he looks likeable,,,, hehehe.... you have done him a great justice!!!... lolol.. I do love this image...can't say i like willie any more than i ever did.. but you make him look wonderful!!!!

Artist Reply: Wherther you care for his music or not, my point in doing the protrait is not about his music but about the humanitarian efforts he has always made without hesitation to correct that which men who care only for gain have began to ruin. He is instrumental is starting Farm Aid, he owns a bio diesel company, he is doing a very small and intimate concert this weekend for a mutual friend in our little village to raise money for our friend's wife who needs alive transplant and the list goes on. So what you see in his face is a humanitarian of great proportion. He is the genuine article amongst so many that just swill champagne and dodge paparazzi. He has live his own life and created something out of nothing more then once. So my painting his was to show that side of him, that good human side and not his vocals. So I do understand your dilemma. I thank you for the comments and your open mind. Michael

Malou Pombo 16 Oct 2007

Artist Reply: Jo, he is a wonderful peaceful and spiritual man with a global viewpoint on keeping the world intact. A great and delightful singer and he is playing in the small town I live in this weekend as a benefit for a woman who needs a liver transplant. Her husband is part of the Willie family and he lives here. Great guy. Thanks for your kind remarks and supporting my work. It is so very nice of you. Michael

Great global thinker and a man who gets behind what he thinks is right. A great man. Thanks so much for your kind words, especially to Willie. Michael

Roz Eve 14 Oct 2007

This is excellent and the texture really adds to the artistic flavour of the image. Willie has some grit and texture to his personality and music. Well done.

Artist Reply: Roz, I know he looks rougher then a cob but you ought to see him up close. I love his handsome cowboy look though. Goes with the music. My thanks for your kind comments. You are really kind. Michael

Alexandra Dvinitninova 14 Oct 2007

Willie to a "T"... Marvelous work! Is the benefit publicized? I have not heard of it....

Artist Reply: Lightly publicized in the town I live in. Do you know Eureka Springs, Ar. That is where he is playing and it is a small (500) people benefit for a mutual friends wife who needs a liver transplant. He is a great guy, both Willie and Don, who has put all his appearances on here, many over 25 years and Willie just loves this town so he is doing a small dedicated affair for Don and his wife. He is such a generous and loving man. A cleaner soul you will not find. Some tickets are available I think, if you are interested email me and I will navigate you to the source. Thanks for your kindness and great comments. Michael

KC CHANG 14 Oct 2007

Robin Brown 14 Oct 2007

I have no doubt Mr Nelson would be proud to hang this one in his own home Michael. If I was you I'd be expecting a phone call any day now. This is a Terrific painting.

Artist Reply: Robin, he is playing in town next weekend and they are auctioning off some portraits that were done of him and he is doing a benefit for a mutual friend whose wife needs a liver transplant. He has played in our little village to a select group of 500 or so many times in the last 25 years. He loves our town and has many friends here. He is treated like family. A better man and humanitarian you will never find. Unless it is you. My thanks and gratitude for your constant generosity. Thanks so much, Michael

Jean M. Laffitau 14 Oct 2007

Very well done Michael!!

Artist Reply: Jean, you are so kind. He is a great and generous iconic figure in my world. Not just his talent but all he does for others. wow my hero~! love his tunes.this is a fantstic reandering Michael ~!

Artist Reply: Jamie, thank you so much. He is one of my heroes as well. He is playing a benefit in our little town this weekend coming for a mutual friend's wife in the Willie family who needs a liver transplant. A great humanitarian. He has played here many times as a favor to this friend that we have in common and is always such a pleasure to have in town. He is a man who has always punched his own ticket. Thanks for your lovely comments. Michael

Mary Ashton 14 Oct 2007

Beautifully done and a super quote Michael. A lovely thoughtful ecxression. Mary

Artist Reply: Mary, that narrative sums up what type of man Willie is. A great humanitarian, friend, generous to a fault and could care less about the fame and trappings of being famous all about the world. A good song with good friends is what it is all about. Thank you so much for recognizing the depth of the piece and what it means to me. You are very adept at seeing the undercurrent. Michael

annette steens 14 Oct 2007

excellent Willie Nelson, great done Michael also the words of great Emerson I love!

Artist Reply: Annette, thank you so much. He is one of my heroes, having done it his way and in the meantime considered all that love him. A great humanitarian, he started with others FarmAid, has a biodiesel company, and this weekend in this small town I live in the Ozark mountains, he is playing a benefit for a dear friend of his whose wife needs a liver transplant and he is donating a large portion of the income to a mutual friend for the transplant. Great guy. He has played here many times and we have always enjoyed it. I met him before a concert here about 25 years ago as we were both running the same path at day break. We ran together and it was hard for me to keep up and I am 25 years at least younger. Great man. Michael

Nicely done Michael!

Artist Reply: Thanks so much Mark. I didn't like the results of his looking so beat, but that is how it came out. He really is a good looking man of age. Very clear in the eye, except when you are in the bus with him. Have a great weekend and thanks again. He is playing in this mountain town next weekend in Arkansas for a man who is in the circle as a benefit for the man's wife who needs a liver transplant. Great humanitarian. Michael
