This painting was a slightly different approach for me. Where usually I do a full preliminary drawing for this one I only had the idea and basic sketch of the face hair and profile of the subject. I wanted to allow for my Subconscious to filter through whilst painting and let go of some of the control of thinking about how I wanted each detail to turn out.
All I really felt was that I wanted to make it quite ethereal and uplifting, something that felt magical and unusual.
I think its made for a more freer expression.

I love it Susan, especially the hair and how it flows to merge with the background....and colours beyond number!!! that's awesome. I've never ever tried to paint by letting my mind flow free as you have done but i'm tempted to try it actually :D.
