Genuine Martian Orchid

GENUINE MARTIAN ORCHID. I WENT TO THIS RARE ORCHID SHOW 2 WEEKS AGO AND WAS DOING SOME BROWSING LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR THE JUNGLE YARD. I SAW THE WICCAN WHICH I BOUGHT AND SENT IT BACK TO SCOTLAND WHERE IT BELONGED. I PAID 1000 FOR IT. BUT SPIRITUAL THINGS BELONG WHERE THEY ARE MEANT TO BE. SO I AM SLIGHTLY AND QUIETLY ACCOSTED BY A VERY BENT, I THINK IT IS CALLED A DOWAGERS HUMP, FROM NOT ENOUGH CALCIUM, BUT I DIGRESS, ANYHOW SHE HAD ONE. IT DIDN'T PUT ME OFF, SHE HAD SUCH A SWEET FACE. SORT OF A GRAY HALO OF HAIR AND SUCH A SHADE OF EYES LIKE PERSIAN TURQUOISE. BUT FOR SOME REASON, I TRAVELED IN HER EYES. I MEAN, I WENT DOWN INTO THEM AS IF MY WHOLE BODY JUST SLID DOWN THEM AS IF ON ONE OF THOSE SLIDES WITH WATER ON THEM AT THE FAIR. IT WAS ALL SWOOSHIE AND THE NOISE WAS DEAFENING AND EVERYONE KNOWS I CANNOT STAND LOUD NOISES SO I BEGAN TO GET DISTURBED, BUT I COULDN'T CLIMB OUT OF THOSE EYES. I BEGAN TO BREATHE LIKE MY YOGA GUY TELLS ME, AND FINALLY I CLAWED MY WAY OUT AND SHE JUST SMILED A BIG GRANDMOTHER SMILE LIKE SHE HAD A GIANT SECRET. EVERYBODY KNOWS I AM TOO CURIOUS SO I SAYS TO HER, WHAT IS IT, WHY DO YOU SMILE LIKE THAT. SHE SAW THAT I WAS DRESSED IN MY DE RIGUER BLACK ARTIST OUTFIT, NO BERET, AND SHE ASKED ME TO COME CLOSER. SHE REALLY HAD NO ORCHIDS THAT I HAD NEED OF SPECIES OF, I HAVE BEEN TOLD I AM SLIGHTLY OVER THE TOP WITH THE ORCHIDS. BUT IT IS MY INHERITENCE. SO I SPEND IT ON JOYOUS BEAUTY. SHE SAID SONNY, AND I HATE THAT, SO I LOOK YOUNG. I AM IN MY 50S FOR THE LOVE OF THE SAINT. SHE PULLED ME CLOSER AND SHE HAD AN ODOR LIKE AN ATTIC WITH SOME SORT OF DEODERANT THAT PEOPLE PUT UP THERE. I WAS A BIT NONPLUSSED AND STARTED TO BOLT, BUT SHE SAID, YOU'LL BE SORRY. YOU FOLKS KNOW THAT I AM CURIOUS. SO I SAID SORRY, MUM, ABOUT WHAT. SHE TELLS ME SHE HAS A SPECIAL ORCHID NO ONE ELSE HAS IN THIS WORLD. I SORT OF LAUGHED BECAUSE I HAVE A HUGE COLLECTION AND KNOW ALL THE LATIN GENUS AND SUCH. AN EXPERT YOU KNOW. SHE SAYS SO QUIETLY I HAD TO MOVE CLOSER TO THAT ATTIC SMELL. I HELD MY SILK KERCHEIF TO MY NOSE AND SAID WHAT DID YOU SAY, SHE SAID AGAIN SO QUITELY. YOU KNOW SONNY, AND YOU KNOW HOW I HATE THAT, SHE SAID, THEY HAVE ORCHIDS ON THE COLD SIDE OF MARS. THEY FREEZE AND THAW AT WILL. THEY CONTROL THEIR OWN TEMPERATURE. I HAD TO LAUGH. BUT POLITELY, I DO HAVE AN ABUNDANCE OF MANNERS. MARTIAN HUH? SHE SAYS I HAVE ONE BACK HERE. JUST ONE. I, BEING CURIOUS, ASKED THE PRICE AND COULD I VEIW IT. SHE SAID NO, YOU MUST BUY IT FIRST AND TRUST ME. WELL THAT WAS TAKING THE MIKE. SO I SAID SHOW ME FIRST, SHE DID NOT BUDGE. SO I HAVING WAY TOO MUCH MONEY, MORE THEN SENSE, GAVE HER THE 750 DOLLARS SHE ASKED. I WENT TOWARDS THE BACK AND SHE GRABBED ME AND KISSED ME ON THE LIPS. I HAVE A HARD TIME WITH THAT. SO I JUMPED BACK AND GRABBED THE PACKAGE AND SORT OF RAN. WHEN I GOT TO THE CAR AND LOOKED IN THE PACKAGE, I HAD TO LAUGH AT MYSELF. TAKEN BY THE DOWAGER ATTIC SMELL LADY. FOOLED. NOT MY FIRST TIME SO, I JUST LAUGHED, I COULD HAVE GONE BACK IN AND DEMANDED MY MONEY BACK, THE ORCHID CLEARLY WAS NOT FROM MARS FOR THE LOVE OF THE SAINT. AND YOU CAN SEE THAT RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. CLEARLY VENUSIAN, IT WAS OBVIOUS. A TRUE STORY INVENTED BY MICHAEL FORBUS

You are definitely a great story teller...:-)....dear MIGUEL...and...your artwork...also has a VERY beautiful story inside...This is a super unique Orchid...of - course i never seen a such...look like it came from imaginary lands...TRULY MARVELOUS..!!!

Artist Reply: Nira, my great friend, it is a real orchid and not from Venus, but a good tale. Thank you so much for all you lovely enthusiasm. You are loved by many and I count myself amongst those lucky enough to know you and your work, Have yourself a wonderful evening and dream of beauty. Michael
Artist Reply: Nira, an orchid that is real and a story that is not. They seem the opposite. Your Nira, are loved by so many so my love might get lost in that huge heart of yours but it is there and will stay. Shalom, Mikael

Love your imagination...it does indeed look Martian!

Artist Reply: I believe that the orchid collector thought that it was Venusian. I am not sure, I thought the collector a bit odd so, he might be off his meds. Thank you for the compliment. Michael

Fiona Hooper 28 May 2006

Wow - a strange flower with a story to match! Well done, Miguel!!!

Artist Reply: Fiona, I thought if was a very strange plant too. The story a bit weird. But this is the first time in a while I wasn't the character so I took poetic liscence with his weirdness. Thank you so much Miguel

Super story! Beautiful and a colorful orchid

Artist Reply: Vera, I thought the story a little cute because it was not so cumbersome and lovey-dovey. Although that is what I write best and love most. He was an obessesed character, though. I did so love this orchid. It was very different. Thank you so much. Michael

Dear, sweet Miguel, and I wondered what I was going to do with such a long holiday...why, look at your beautiful and read your stories, that's what! Both are charming, witty and wonderful.

Artist Reply: Dearest Anon, I hope you like the little story, I thought it amusing. Sometimes I am like a brick in my writing, and it is not for everyone. I am glad to entertain you for the weekend. My love to you and yours, miguel

Chas Sinklier 26 May 2006

Looks Venusian to me M - hey do you have that ol' dowager's phone number? I may want one of those kisses you spoke of - old attic smell, huh? Mmm - so much better than old chest-of-drawers in the sheep shed back home smell. Man you could open that thing and the whole station'd clear out. 'Roos 'ould drop dead in mid-leap. It was easy pickins, yeah! Nice Venusian Orchid though. :0)

Artist Reply: Chas, i think you might want to hold back on the dowager's number, although very nice, I believe the fellow had the snuff still on his lips as he drove off in the Bentlely. I don't envy you that Chest-of-drawers although, the sometimes have so old treasure in them. Thanks Chas for the friendsip and the comments, and making my sides hurt from the laughter. Miguel

Artist Reply: Thea, thank you so much, isn't that an odd orchid, the story could almost be true. The little old lady scared me a bit but the man was off the deep end. Thank you so much for yesterday, I have told everbody I know of your generosity. Love to you all day and this whole weekend. Miguel

just jumped with my eyes through the very interesting text, my poor english..., but I enjoy without language problems your marvellous flower, Michael! The language of ART is universal!

Artist Reply: Nelly, you are so sweet, get someone to explain the story to you. It is a little bit crazy. You are right, the language of art is universal and the love of humankind is too. All my love and good feelings to you this weekend. I hope you have a great time. Thank you so much for the compliments. Michael

Angelina 26 May 2006

interesting story Michael altho i think i prefer the craziness of Miguel some of which is still present , love the orchid

Artist Reply: Angelina, he is threatening to come out and write, he does not like the way that Michael writes. Too stuffy, too starched he says. Lucky there is 3 of me. Thank you my dear for looking. You are so sweet and have a great weekend. Love to you and the family. Miguel
