Artist Description: This book is dedicated to my Mother, Frances Mae Williams Minor Johnson, and my childhood community,
Eastland Gardens of Washington D.C. “Mommie” loved flowers and took pride in keeping up the exterior of our family home. She and my Aunt “Wee” inherited the home from my visionary Grandmother, Hattie Mae Rucker Williams who purchased it in 1945. As my mother’s dementia progressed, she chose to plant artificial flowers as fillers in empty garden spaces once full of roses. This collection of my artwork is full of original paintings and studies of my interpreting the secret life of plants and flowers. Obviously, my mother knew something quite well about them. Like her, I am also finding beauty can be created anywhere, even when the “artificial” requires an intelligence that nurtures and brings Beauty where there are too often ashes. Enjoy!
