This is my latest fish a Queen Angelfish. I like the colors and it was a change from my usual Trout and Salmon. I have to find my other pictures I will change later.

This is a Male Spawning Sockeye Salmon. I have always loved the colors of the fish before they slowly fade away to grey. Goldstream Park is close to us and going there even after the Salmon have spawned is pretty incredible, with death come new life.

This is a Rainbow Trout that I just completed it will be mounted to a base I have already made. It is carved in Basswood and then painted, this is the completed white fish that I posted earlier.

This is a cutthroat trout that I just finished out of cherry wood I am in the process of making a base out of the same wood.

This is a cuthroat trout carved from cherry wood, it was very challenging to carve because it's a pretty hard wood. I am almost finished sanding and when finished it should take on the same colour as the board it is sitting on.

This is a rainbow trout I am working on right now it is carved and primed and waiting for paint. It is carved from basswood and it will be mounted on this piece of cherry wood when done.

Saltspring Island Posted by Picasa

My blog is about fish and my passion for these beautiful creatures, which until recently even I couldn't appreciate how much of my life I have spent in pursuit of them in one form or another. Passion is a very funny thing sometimes it is right under your own nose and you still don't see it. You have to start connecting the dots and finally Aha! Now I may be a little slower than a lot of people not to realize that I have a passion for fish. I mean my first clue may have been when I started actually working in a fish store filletting and selling fish, it's an amazing place to work, but even I can appreciate that I have more dog friends than people when I leave work. I mean people think that they are being incredibly original when they comment" smells like fish in here", boy I never grow tired of that one. I now reply "no thats just me sorry I smell", which is true as I was explaining about my dog friends. When I finally realized that fish were my passion and started to remember where it all began as a young child obsessed with fishing, but alas born into a family of non-fishers the tragedy of it all, no worry every Monday in my grade 3 class we had to draw a picture of what we had done on the weekend, I always drew amazing pictures of my dad and me fishing even though we never have ever fished together. If I couldn't go I would just make it up better than nothing i guess. The only thing I don't have a passion for when it comes to fish is the evil farmed salmon industry, but I will save my views of that for another day. Until then have a great day and if you happen to be fishing, Good Luck!
