Garden of Vanity by Jess McKay

This piece features two young boys and inspired a recent RP of of mine. I decided to draw a pair of pretty French boys sitting in a Royal rose garden. Of course, I knew I wanted one to be a prince--because I just love snobby, spoiled princes--and the second would be a peasant of somesort. But as I continued to draw, other possibilities seemed to arise. The dark-haired boy looks like he could be foreign, Greek, perhaps. He also doesn't look dirty or thin, which indicates he's been well-kept--perhaps the prince has taken him in to care for him. While I was working on the sketch I couldn't get what the prince might be saying out of my head: "Kiss my feet, barbarian!" And by the look on the other boy's face he could be thinking various things. I suppose it depends on his personality and the perspective of the viewer. I really like it when people view my drawings in different ways. I put symbols in a lot of my art both intentionally and unintentionally, which is a little strange. Ahahaha, if you've ever had to bathe a stubborn cat then perhaps you can sympathize with the guy in this picture. It's kind of hard to see in this small version, but the poor guy's been scratched up by the kitties. But they still aren't as bad as my cats. Heh heh, I really adore the dark-haired kitty in the pic. AW LOOK AT THE BABY RAMS LOOK AT THEM. Each wishing death upon the other. How precious.<3 Ahaha, not really. They're actually very good friends! But butting heads just comes natural to them. This is probably their first fight because they look reluctant and they're using their foreheads more than their horns (guess they'll learn the hard way, heh heh). I just love them so much! I even gave them names: The one on the left with the lighter complexion is "Eli" and the one on the right with the darker complexion is "Cyr". Eli is more on the prissy side and seems to be well-groomed, which may indicate he's a pet or of a high rank in a herd, while Cyr just seems to be a complete brute. He probably picks on Eli a lot.<3 I almost gave up on this picture half-way through because I was so disapointed with the way the coloring and the background was turning out.
