A total of six photo references went into getting this pose right. I started out with an initial doodle, then went looking all over until I found a hand I liked that was in the right angle and then another one...and another one, then it took two to make sure Zakais position was right and one for Alex, the faces(I try to find one or two real life models for my characters. I have a scrap page created for each with printed out photo bits for the eyes, nose, mouths, face shapes and what not. Something I started when trying to create some consistency of character features).

Lately everything I do starts on typing paper, as a small sketch that I correct the basic figures on and then gets redrawn on Bristol, smooth if I want realism, Vellum if I am going more towards a illustrative style and want it to look obviously like a drawing. This particular image was cleaned up a bit in Photoshop and the dodge tool used on highlights as well as the border added(didnt have the black ink to waste and digital is so much faster). Ill either paint it with acrylic(which I am STILL not very good at so I will have to redraw it again just to make sure I dont ruin the original) or I will wuss out and paint it in Photoshop.
