This is one of my Original Oil on Canvas paintings entitled "Party Time". While at my studio in Woodstock, NY I drove down the road to go into town and noticed this little party happening. I felt inspired to paint this little colorful celebration.

The Portrait of Vinnie Ream: First hand sketched then inlaid with semiprecious gemstones of green malicite, the trim is also museum cabinet pieces of malicite hand dug from the Whitehawk marble mine in Montana. All the minerals, are from the Devonian age 440 million years old. The flesh tones are marble that were in contact zones with precious metals which change the colors of the natural mineral. Vinnie Ream was 15 years old when Abe Lincoln moved her into the White House to sculpture all the presidents busts from George Washington to present of himself. She won the contest to see which sculpture would get the honor to sculpt all the presidents and it was a great honor for a woman to have beaten all the men who competed against her in 1862. In her spare time she also sculpted life size marble statues of President Lincoln. The brown minerals are chalcopyrite which was under the green malicite in the mineral deposit and contain precious metals of gold copper silver and platinum. I enjoy using real minerals in all my original mosaic art work. Hope you all enjoy viewing this portrait of Vinnie Ream. All the green medium in her dress and the trim around the oval mosaic are gemstones of pure malicite.....
