Zhang Hongnian * my Favorite artist

HongNian Zhang was born in China in 1947. He started his professional training in art at age nine, and by the age of fourteen he became the top student in the Central Art Academy High School in Beijing, China.

As a talented art student during the Cultural Revolution in the 1960’s, Zhang was sent with his entire class to the countryside to perform forced manual labor for four years.

Upon his return to Beijing in 1974 he became the youngest artist in the only official art academy. In 1979 he became the youngest member of the All China Artists Association.
