how about jsut a contest no theme just post a piece of art work? Maybe an end of the year thing?

First, I would like to comment that the contest main site still says "several contests each month" and there hasn't been more than 2 in quite a while. So.... either the administrators of the site should run more contests, or change the text of the site. A few suggestions:

Tell a joke without using words: let the picture tell a joke, sight gag.

Endangered animals

run the same contest theme in several mediums (eg: digital, paintings, drawings, misc. media (glass, sculpture)

Photo: trees with character (trees that look like something like a person, animal, letter, etc.)

mock illustration: create a romance novel cover

angels: create an "angel" (a messenger/servant of your favorite diety) as based on a religious text

oxymorons: eg: jumbo shrimp (photo with shrimp in foreground to make it look huge in front of a person), etc.

photo: justaposition, 2 things together in the frame that counterindicate each other (eg.: foreground: Adult entertainment center, appearing over the top: church steeple (actual example); someone standing under a "No Stopping, Standing, or Parking" sign)

web banner

Winter time fun

Holiday Spirit (run contests for different winter holidays simultaneously)

political cartoons

line art contest first, then..... coloring contest (I know you did this before, and everyone had fun!)

Why not do something out of the ordinary, whether it is drawn, painted or photographed. Something that is so unusual that it's not an everyday occurence....

Illustrate a famous quote or line from a book would be interesting. Or maybe 'my idol' -art work of people (or things) that inspire... :S

How about a 'someone I love' contest, portraits, photos paintings of other kind. That would be fun.

a couple ideas - subjects being "Cats and Kittens" also "Self Portraits" and lastly "Heros, those that inspire you"

How about "Faithful Steeds" - an illustration of someone riding something that could be considered their steed...a horse, a motorcycle, a butterfly...? The person has to have a connection with their steed, the illustration should be about them and their motorcycle (horse, or whatever), not about anything else....

better foresight should increase your sales. forenstance; start a halloween related contest in August so the artwork would display just before the season starts. A thanksgiving related contest should start in september and end mid october so that dispaying the artwork would not be behind the holliday.
