How about if you have a contest of the subject of hands. This is the most hardest thing to draw of the human anatomy. I even had a hard time drawing a leopard's paw (a colored pencil drawing I'm currently working on). I think a contest for drawing hands would be the best and most unusual contest, don't you think?

Describe an illustrated scene; either from a book or from suggestions from members. Artists would illustrate the assigned scene either in color or B&W.

Paint an homage to a famous painter, director, writer, poet, actor or person in an illustrative manner. ie: not just a portrait of the person, but a painting/drawing which would, at little more than a glance, discribe the person it is about. Like Mark Twain's face in the sky over a river boat on the Mississipi...?

How about just a fine arts/ illustration catagory which must be voted on in order to have your painting posted in that particular "honored"gallery? Those who are accepted to be posted receive some small bit of recognition..or an upgraded account?

There hasn't been an art contest since August 2010? Wow, what happened? I've been exploring other internet venues and have been absent from ArtWanted.com for the same amount of time...but it was the art contests that drew me here. Even if I didn't win, or even participate, it was fun to view and vote on those who did. I think I'm not the only one who misses them.

we should have a contest where people can show pain. paint it, photograph it, draw it. just for people to express their pain in an artistic way. and to see how different people express pain in different ways.
