Hi, Terry! It is very weird weather this year, all over the world! Snow and cold in the south, a ton of rain in draught-stricken California, and dryer and almost tropical here in Oregon! My tulips and daffodils are up, but so have the lilies begun to sprout! I may have the first garden flowers to post!

I know what you mean Jerry... I've got daffodils almost open here... I guess this cold spell will make a mess of them..

Very cold here in central New York. It has been snowing off and on for three days. I'm ready for spring. Terry, your perennials should be ok. We have had snow here in NY since Thankgiving. I am so ready for spring.

Our first snow came one months early this season---in October. From what I heard in our T.V., they say this will be a LONG winter and that May and June will be cold this year, and those are normally our loveliest months. Right now we have piles of snow in our deadend street, which the city does not clear. Wish I had a magic wand to make it all disappear! (Bavaria, Germany)

We got 3-5 inches of snow last week here in sunny so Cal. And Big Bear Lake ( 45 minutes away) got 5 feet.

Weird weather this year for us.

Here on the coast we usually have no sonw and more temperate temperatures than most anywhere else in the mid-atlantic region. but this winter snow and more snow! With single digit low's at night!! not to mention the chill factors!!(most folks here never buy snow tires and many convertibles are still a main car for a household here). Just got hit with another 5.5 inches of snow yesterday...and father South got up to almost 10 inches in part of NJ along the coastline. YIKES....sll this global warming leaves me needing snow tires ROFL

rebecca phillips 31 Jan 2010

Terry here on Long Beach Island we are gratefully replying YES we missed the ice storm THIS TIME!

rebecca phillips 31 Jan 2010

Terry just shot over to your site....very lovely and impressive. No Carolina huh? My mother's family is Virginian. take care and try to keep warm.

Terry Bassett 31 Jan 2010

Glad you missed the ice storm Rebecca.. power outages in these temperatures is no joke.

Glad you enjoyed the site!..:-)

I have friends in Virginia.. about ten inches of snow there I believe..

rebecca phillips 31 Jan 2010

True about power-outages and these temps Terry. Soon tho, my doctor will be submitting a form to the electric company here so that i will have priority for electrical usage. I will be first in line as i shall be moving from manual perio-dialysis at home to he automatic perio-dialysis by "cycler-machine," at home. Since this is a form of renal dialysis utilizing a life-saving machine which runs on electric power I will be among the first to receive restoration of electric power after an outage.

Terry Bassett 31 Jan 2010

I didn't know you needed dialysis Rebecca. That would pose a far more serious problem than just the cold. I'm glad to hear that you would receive priority for restoration of power. [[[Hugs]]]..:-)
