The Post Office Supplies Department as distinct from the postal side had quite a fleet of heavy lorries and were known as the Red Fleet while the Engineering Department was dubbed the Green Fleet. Here in a scene from 1937 an impresive Scammell rigid 6 turns out of Post office premises into a busy London street, these magnificent machines were quite advanced for their time with Gardner engines, air brakes and giant balloon tyres but the beautiful livery with black lining was the icing on the cake.
