The city of Florence (Firenze), Italy is divided by the Arno River. Of its several bridges, the Ponte Vecchio (The Old Bridge) was originally built in the 14th. century with shops and other merchants along the span. Later, the Medici built a private corridor above the shops to link what is now the Uffizi to the Palazzo Pitti. They converted the shops to high end goldsmiths and jewelers, which remain today. The river is often used by local rowers for practice.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL, PETER. FLORENCE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE OF ALL CITIES. ALL IT'S WONDERFUL ART AND THIS THE PONTE VEICCHIO, AND THE PITTI PALACE FILLED WITH GORGEOUS PAINTINGS AND, I BELIEVE THAT IS WHERE THE DAVID IS TOO. THE IFIZZI ANOTHER GEM. YOU HAVE PAINTED THESE THINGS AND THE ARNO SO BEAUTIFULLY. LIKE A MASTER, YOURSELF. USUALLY IT'S THE DUOMO WE SEE. I LOVE THIS. MY PIC OF THE DAY!
