This is the entrance to the temple of Hathor and Nefertari, carved out of the rocky hillside about one hundred meters northeast of the temple of Ramesses II at Abu Simbel. Nefertari was the Great Wife of Ramses II. The statues, slightly more than ten meters high, show two images of Ramses with Nefertari in between. The Queen is shown equal in size to the king which is rare in Egyptian art.
