My Grandfather passed away about 4 months ago, and it just killed me on the inside. I found a photo of him from his younger days before I was born and figured I would try my hand at a portrait. I am usually uncomfortable when I try to draw specific people, especially people I have known, because I always fear getting the proportions wrong and it not looking correct. I fret over the length of a nose or the shadow below an eye. This morning I decided that because I love my Grandpa very much, he deserved for me to at least give it a try. I am pleased to say that I think I got a pretty good likeness. I drew this first with a 4H pencil, and than shaded slightly, and darkened the lines with a charcoal pencil. I loved my Grandpa.
