In Father's Hands

This is a portrait of my granddaughter Gianna when her father was first holding her in his hands gently. I know how this may bring many to remember the first time they held their child. I digitally painted this portrait using an electronic drawing tablet - a Wacom- that uses a wireless stylus pen instead of a mouse. I used Corel's Painter X art software. This is not a photo manipulation. I have to draw, paint just as I would have with a real brush and canvas. I chose the colors, the medium, the brushes, etc. In this case I used a mix of Painter X's mediums, watercolor, pastels, chalks, oils, and blending tools to get the soft textures. I wanted a little of coarse texture to show, many of my portraits are softer and smooth in texture. Portraits are a favorite of mine to work on, I do take commissions. Larger prints are available from me, please contact for information. I hope this one brings a smile to your face and to your heart as well.
