The ruins at Ta Phrom here display an interesting metaphor. What was once the interior of a holy shrine now is broken and open to the elements. Buddhism, unlike Christianity, seeks harmony with nature. Invaders from Thailand drove the monks from here centuries ago, and now a unity exists that is not incompatible with the Buddhist's goal.
