95 in. X 126 in., oil and enamel on canvas. This is one of my favorites. I did it when I was in Grad school, and at the time it was a real breakthrough for me. I was trying to incorporate illusionary space and recognizable imagry into the all-over, paint splashy technique that I was covering the canvas with. The idea of introducing the figure as an implied relief came to me at about one o'clock in the morning on the night before an important faculty review of my work. I finished this about ten minutes before they walked through the door of my studio.

Powerful impression and style!

This is clever. Is there some kind of relief to this? If not, it's very impressive.
