24 x 60 canvas. Limited Edition Giclee on canvas is Available. In a Japanese garden, "Dividing stones" have the purpose of dividing the stream into two, or more parts. The stones at the point are simply called the "Dividing Stones" In this painting, I try to convey a concept of the stones "dividing" the image, in a vertical plane as well. It suggests a social division, the "koi" that are of higher esteem and value, are on a higher level, and of coarse, the mutts, like most of us, have a somewhat lower profile. However I did include eight koi in the painting for a little good luck. Everyone can use some of that! I always paint around the sides of my paintings. They are mounted on gallery wrapped, 1.5 inch deep stretcher frames. All of my paintings are done like this, but I never took the time to describe it. This means, frames are optional. All giclee reproductions of my work are presented in the same way.
