35mm photograph This photo was taken in the middle of the night at the Ark, a lodge built on the site of a natural salt lick. Animals would come in the night for the salt and visitors inside the lodge could view them.

I like the texture with this, was this something you did in PS or is this from the film grain from a night exposure??? nice image and effect..

Artist Reply: I took this at about 2:00 in the morning using 400 ISO film. The only lights were a few flood lights scattered around the grounds, not quite enough for a hand-held shot. I put my camera on the window sill and shot with the timer. I did scan it into photoshop to get as much contrast as I could, but didn't do anything else. The grain is from the film.

It's beautiful. I like the mood the darkness of this photo creates. It seems very still, quiet and secretive, but it is also powerful since it's a group of elephants. I also like that the tusks and one eye in the middle reflect a bit of light. awesome.
