NY Hudson©

Please enjoy this view over NY's Hudson

This is my first oil painting (Impasto)

and now I am totally hooked to this medium! I used modeling paste (Liquitex) with a knife to build up a heavy texture and to create the three dimensional illusion of this painting.
When dried I painted over it with oil paint.

Mixed media: Oil paint & Modeling Paste on a canvas panel

Dimensions 11"-14" (27.9 x 35.5cm)
Framed in a Bordeaux red wooden frame which complements the colors of the painting.

--------SOME HISTORY -------
You are likely to agree with nineteenth century writer Nathaniel Parker Willis that the Hudson is indeed one of America's great rivers and "a spot of the earth with soul."
The Hudson River is a river running mainly through New York State but partly forming the boundary between the states of New York and New Jersey. It is named for Henry Hudson, an Englishman sailing for the Netherlands, who explored it in 1609. Early European settlement of the area clustered around the river.
The area inspired the Hudson River school of painting, a sort of early American pastoral idyll. _____________________________
