The Good Shepherd

36 x 24 inch oil on stretched canvas, is a portrait of Navajo Willie Cly, watching his wife, Happy, on a horse tending their sheep near Sand Springs, Monument Valley in 1959. Beyond the obvious image of a simpler time and place, it is a symbolicly portrays my relationship with my temporal and Heavenly Fathers. They have shepherded me into this new field of representational painting and now stand physically separated, but spiritually close, guiding me and watching my progress. I venture among the shifting sands of a new career at age 50, as my family follows patiently, and trusts completely, that our journey will be one of peaks and valleys; but with ample grazing and watering holes along the way to sustain us. Starting out, the financial landscape looks rather barren, and the forecast uncertain, but the little bit of blue sky peaking through the clouds on the horizon represents hope for brighter days and a shining future. It is the sixth painting in my series titled Unforgettable. Limited edition, fine art reproductions on canvas, are available. © John Watt, artist retains all rights to any reproductions of this original art Private collection
