This ancient tower houses a unique feat of mechanical technology, and is named after the Lier watchmaker and amateur astronomer, Louis Zimmer (1888 - 1970). In 1928 he offered his hometown a special clock, which not only indicated standard time, but also decimal time, the phases of the moon, the day of the week, the rotation of the earth's axis and many other data. The city council of Lier decided to allocate the medieval Corneliustoren, which had been purchased to be demolished, for this special timepiece. The tower was renovated and the so-called 'Jubilate clock' was unveiled on June 29, 1930, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Belgium (hence the name Jubilate clock). The tower was renamed Zimmertoren. In total, the clock has 57 dials, 13 of which are located on the outside of the tower. Later he built the Wonder clock, the magnum opus of this watchmaker from Lier. Zimmer received congratulations from Albert Einstein, among others. This clock includes one of the slowest moving mechanical hands in the world (one revolution every 25,800 years to indicate the Earth's precession). Later, Zimmer expanded the whole with a planetarium. Image size: 260 x 360 mm

Your water color technique is flawless! I love watercolors too! I paint mostly in acrylic though. But I have found you can water acrylics down to water color consistency and they behave very similar to water colors! Beautiful works new friend in the art world. I am following you! ;) Happy Easter!denise wilson 03 Apr 2022
