I'm still getting used to my new color pencils, so bear with me. This is a 5.5 by 4.5 inches gel pen drawing with wax and oil-based color pencils. It's Original Jones Art keeping busy as nature gradually turns up the heat in northwest Austin, Texas.

I've never been good with colored pencils and always admire your work. You make it look so easy. Just a regular old #2 pencil I can sometimes work with but make it "colored" and I'm totally lost! Not sure what I might render if using gel pens. Doubt if they would be good for me. But yours - ah! always enjoyable to look at the many colors and the awesome details you achieve with them. Your imagination too! So talented!

Artist Reply: I like to think that I'm taking the current penchant for 'adult' coloring books and adding my own personality to it, Ginger. I've had the knack for pulling images 'out of the hat,' you might say, for a long time---with varying results. Using color pencils is something I've been doing only recently and I can knock one of these small pieces out pretty quickly. I was using color gel pens but my 'new' scanner doesn't read them reliably. One must learn to adapt, I've discovered over time. Hope you are doing great. :)
