Top sail scooner Wylde Swan

The "Wylde Swan" (Wild Swan) is, with its length of 63 m and width of 7.50 m, the largest topsail schooner in the world. The ship was built in 1920, in Germany, as a steamship, under the name "Jemo", to cooperate with the German herring fleet, collect the herring at sea and bring it to the market quickly to get the best price. A Dutch foundation bought the ship at the beginning of this century, of which not much was left other than a hull at the time. It was a slender vessel that was ideal for conversion into a sailing ship, which happened later and in 2010 she was launched as a top sailing schooner under the current name. The ship makes long journeys with young people, who in addition to building team spirit, also receive lessons on board. Apparently it is a unique project. Image size: 260 x 360 mm
