This is sort of an experimental painting and should be viewed as such. I thought that since I love drawing so much that I should try to incorporate drawing into my paintings. I bought a bunch of squeeze bottles designed for condiments---like catsup or mustard and the like---and using acrylic paint drew the initial figure onto the canvas and worked from there. I tried to use the squeeze bottles rather than the brush though I found the brush came in handy at times. This is a 16 by 12 inches acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas and an experimental example of Original Jones Art as he confounds those who say 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks.' ;)

Love this piece Charles. I did the same thing- except I used no brushes, and applied heavy paint right out of the tubes onto the stretch canvas...and yes I used oil paint..and then the problem materialized. I sold the piece and my client was anxious for me to ship the painting to him in another state===but it would not dry...days turned unto weeks and weeks...and a couple of months...finally I was required by the client to box it and ship it wet to him...Moral of story don't use oil for this process....Even worse, I painted a series using a tar based tree paint--it took over three years to dry.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Elton. Yes, this was truly an experiment and one I haven't tried again. I'm too much of a control freak but maybe I just need to loosen up. I haven't used oil paints in a long while but that must have taken awhile to dry---especially if it was as thickly applied as it sounds. Hope you are doing great and staying safe and somewhat sane on this turbulent flight. :)

I find this piece very interesting, striking unusual color, but they really work well together. Wonderful work.

Artist Reply: It was an experimental piece and I've decided that technique is better suited to larger canvases and maybe unstretched at that. But it worked pretty well. Thanks for your nice comment, Ginger. Hope you are weathering this invisible storm okay. :)

WOW...I LIKE THIS...

Artist Reply: Thank you, Maria. I bought a few more squeeze bottles today so we'll see how I might be able to refine this technique. :)
