RJ Corman . Union Street Crossing . Allentown

... the RJ Corman Railroad Company (RJCR) is a subset of the RJ Corman Railroad Group, operating approximately 11 short lines spread over 10 states, as well as rail related support services, serving all 7 Class 1 railroads, in 22 states. Richard J. Corman first formed his company as a railroad construction business in 1973, and from there on, expanded into what the group is today, acquiring his first discarded class 1 track in 1987, predominantly Seaboard Coast Line (SCL)) around the Bardstown & Memphis areas. RJ Corman's longest contiguous trackage is the "Clearfield Cluster" (ex-CONRAIL (CR), in Pennsylvania, at about 250 miles in length and its shortest may very well be the 1-3/4 mile track between its transload facility and an interchange with Norfolk Southern (NS) in Allentown. Illustrated... RJCR #1713, an ex-Clinchfield Railroad (CRR) EMD GP7 locomotive, rebuilt to GP16 specs... works a late afternoon job, south out of Allentown, crossing Union Street... with JRCW #5012, an enclosed steel coil car and an unidentified tank car in tow. The #1713 is often seen MU'd with a second GP16, the #1831. This wc sort of mimics my Chimney Rock. I like the drama.
