One recent day, while I was walking in a park with my 4 year- old great-niece, I happened to see a little boy sitting against a tree reading a book while some other children in the park were running around throwing a frisbee, and some children were throwing a ball back and forth. I sat in the park while my little niece played with her blowing bubbles toy and other children saw her blowing bubbles and came over gleefully putting the bubbles out with their hands. While all of these playing activities were going on in the park, I kept watching the boy sitting against the tree contently reading a book- seemingly oblivious to the playing actions and noise. After about 25 minutes of reading, the boy stopped reading when one of the children in the park called his name, and he gave the book to a woman whom he knew- maybe she was his mother or another relative- and the boy ran to join other children throwing a ball back and forth. The inspiration for creating my silhouetted artwork was seeing the boy reading a book in the park. I used the Paint program on my computer to produce my art.
