The Midnight Race

Oil painting on canvas size 762mmx1018mm. by Fred Rousseau (www.ArtWanted.com/FredRousseauArt) This painting forms part of a series titled The Midnight Collection which I am currently completing.Size 762mm x 1018mm. Any race has that unexpected factor X.There is always a competitor,a challenger stronger and faster than you expected.Always the unknown. This particular race brings the elements of human and nature together.Technology that has been mastered by man ,utilizing the speed and power it generates, but also also nature that has an inherent competitive spirit and brute power and speed. Here we not only see the unexpected competitor but also the unfair, unreasonable elements that participants in races have to come to terms with.Competition is something that exists between people, forces, animals in nature, but a race must always be ignited by something. In this instance it is the lightning.Any race has a start and an end.The start of ar ace must be fair and an equal start for all the competitors. The end of a race is also an important part thereof. There can be no two winners.Only one competitor will be the winner. The only trump card is that races provide the opportunity for strategy, the urge to overpower,to conquer,to set parameters,to fight for dominion,to obtain and/or secure food or other resources,to win over the opposite sex,to satisfy boasting or jealousy,or simply to compete to win.To be the fastest, the strongest, the most beautiful, etc.(Copyright Fred Rousseau)
