St. Bernardine of Siena was called by Pope Pius II, a "second Paul", was born in 1380 and died in 1444. He was known for his preaching of the Holy Name of Jesus. St. Bernardine devised a symbol—IHS—the first three letters of the name of Jesus in Greek, in Gothic letters on a blazing sun. He was canonized just 6 years after his death and his feast day is, May 20th.
