Two of my young second cousins- they are sister and brother- received poetry books for Christmas gifts. They both enjoy writing poems and reading poetry. The boy is in the 4th grade, and his sister is in the 5th grade. When I visited them during the Christmas holiday, the siblings enjoyed taking turns reading aloud to me some poems in their poetry books. I was pleased with how well they both could read, and I also was pleased to see these children taking a digital break from their computers and iPads. My visit with my young second cousins was the inspiration for my silhouetted artwork that I created showing two children taking a 'digital break' by reading books. They are taking turns reading aloud, and the boy has turned his head toward the girl as he is listening to her reading . I used the Paint program on my computer to produce my artwork.
