Navajo sand paintings are spiritual, are made for healing and are temporary. Because of a market for them some are produced for framing and display but purposely contain errors to avoid a confusion with the authentic. Instead of limiting art to healing - what if sand painters did commentary illustration? Colored sand and crystals on burlap could still be used, but what about models? Photoshop can provide some 2 dimensional bells and whistles - but this subject runs deeper than my understanding of it.
