I made two drawings on the same undated sheet of paper. I had drawn these images either late last year or January of this year. The first was to become 'Spectral Bird' and the second was to become this unusual bird painting. This is a 12 by 16 inch acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. I used to design springs and those look like bellviles at the neck base. They still use them in land mines.

Artist Reply: Now with this one, the original sketch had a solid-looking base, but I thought the spring added an element of interest. I thought of him springing into the air one wingless hop at a time. Thanks!
