Changeable Sky Over the Grand Canyon SOLD

Oil,landscape painting on stretched canvas 16 x 20". Semi-impressionist (a departure, for me) , slightly different perspective on the "Temple of Vishnu" formation within the canyon. Under the dappled shadows of the clouds which I love to use to impart mood and atmosphere to a scene, even though clouds are far from constant in this high desert location. Striking work

Artist Reply: Thank you so much, Ruth. Having come from the east I find the chief challenge in painting this work of nature to be the huge scale: the canyon is a mile deep, many miles across and 200 miles long. This is the third of what I intend to be a series of many paintings of the Grand Canyon, and I want them all to convey a sense of this immensity. Even in still air, the canyon sees to whisper secrets.
