female redwing blackbird singing

photo of a female red-wing blackbird while she was singing. She was on my deck pecking apart oatmeal bread to take off little pieces to her babies. I LOVE how well you can see her markings and color. To my mind the female is prettier than the male red-wing blackbird. if you look above the eye there is a kind of reddish-orange color, the browns all over are such wonderfully rich colors. Check out the zoom image that better shows the coloration of the female especially around the head

Yes, she is a striking bird!

Artist Reply: I just added in a zoomed image that shows the coloration of her especially her head, if you want to see it. There is a red/pink/orange streak above the eye, and a very light wash of the coloring over the tans and browns of the throat
