Man - king of the animals

I am preparing for my solo exhibition at Taidesalonki Piirto - gallery in the center of Helsinki ( Finland ) in the end of this month. For this exhibition I created a few new works and one of them is " Man - king of the animals". The idea of this painting cames from my observation of how people treat the animals. We are continuing to state that humans are the most smartest form of life on this Earth and the animals are our little brothers and sisters. If it's so why we are killing our sisters and brothers, eating them, taking their skins, furs, bones, teeth, torturing them and etc ? I wonder ? I find this completely unfair. I think that each life form on the Earth has the same right to live and nobody gives us the right to take away those lifes. I do love animals and consider them as an equal. I wanted to put my thoughts on canvas so I painted a man surrounded with dead animals , each of them presenting a group of animals of their natural enviroment - water, ground and air and which are we using for our nutrition. Pig and frog are tipical allegorical atributes of the Sins of Greed and Gluttony. The crown with 7 teeth on the man's head presents a 7 Deadly Sins that humans are possesing. With a slight smile on his face he points on himself as a king with all his pride and arrogance.
