Birch trees in Spring

A group of birch trees painted pleinair in acrylic on canvas board 24 x 30 cm. Brimstones were fluttering about, buds burst forth days after this. Birds abounded and the whole picture heralded for me Spring on the threshold.

This works really well, Keith. Great recession and feeling of depth, created by the use of muted colour in the background contrasting with the more vibrant colours of the foreground. A simple subject excellently portrayed. ****
