The Jewish Cemetery known as Heiliger Sand, in Worms, Germany. It is believed to be the oldest surviving Jewish cemetery in Europe. Although the Jewish burials in the Jewish sections of the Roman catacombs predate this one by a millennium. The Jewish community of Worms was established by the late tenth century, but the oldest tombstone still legible dates form 1076. The last, 1940.
