Receding snows

A small 18x24 cm canvas panel, rigger for fine branches otherwise all painted with 1/2 " bristle filbert. ws Artisan oils. On site and finshed in studio. Loved doing it!

Wow!!! This is a fantastic painting, Keith, you have done an excellent job! I love everything about it, from the wonderful aerial perspective making those background trees sink back into the distance and which also creates the soft atmosphere, to the colours – muted for the bare winter trees, cool shadows on the warmly lit snow, and a splash of last autumn’s colour peeking through with the green hinting at the spring which is on its way. The sky is very cleverly kept muted and fairly low in tone so as not to distract from the focus of the painting. I would love to see this in real life, as photographs rarely do justice to paintings. This may be small but it is a real gem!!! ****
