Phantom - Self Portrait

16" x 20" Oil on Canvas What started out as a painting of myself, in a Halloween costume, and upon its completion, I realized I had painted the true "Me"...my self portrait. All of us have something about ourselves that we are not happy with: either mentally, physically or possibly something in our past that we try to hide from or forget. Whatever it may be, I think, sometime in our lives, we have all felt the need to hide behind the mask--Whether hiding from outward influences...or just ourselves. This is also illustrated in the poem, "Paintbrush." by Bettie B. Youngs

Wonderful portrait Patrick...speaks volumes to me!

Artist Reply: Thank you Casey. I know, you too, paint from within your most inner self. Revealing parts of our subconscious in our art! How is life treating you. By the looks of your gallery, you have been very busy and far from the past that has brought you to who you are today. Beautiful and talented.
