Artist Reply: Thanks Helen, The story behind this one is that I was commissioned to paint this lady's deceased father as a gift to his wife. My commissioner compliment my work and parted with the painting. A little later, I asked if I could submit the painting to the Portrait Society Of Atlanta...they would want to keep it for a month. My commissioner said she would have to ask her father's widow. My commissioner came back to me and said that the widow would not part with the painting for a moment...it would be too much like losing him all over again. Good news...she like the painting. Bad news...she wouldn't let me borrow it back.
