The Once and Future King (2007)

This is the once and future King of Louisiana. He holds his scepter in the right hand and the Sacred Heart in the left. He wears St. Michael's wings, but not his halo. This is part of a Louisiana Diptych.

I love these allegorical paintings of yours David! This one's a cracker! The face and hands denote strenght and endurance. The warm sienna and Vermillion infuse the entire picture with a powerful vibrance. Love the impasto texture of the paint and the determined brush strokes. Very regal. Brilliant artwork! PS. In answer to your question. The woman in the photo on my portfolio is me and my (second) husband took the photograph in our garden. Circa late 1970s.
