This is a rock ledge at the Goreme Open Air Museum. There is a door leading into a Monk's quarters in the foreground and several in the distance. The Monk's used this area as a monestary from the 9th to the 11th centuries. They hollowed out the soft rocks to create living quarters and chapels. Many of these still contain Byzantine style paintings on the interiors.
