Holy Family Statues

These antique life size statues were donated to St. Luke Hwang Suk-Du, Korean Catholic Church, in Birmingham, Alabama. They have been completely restored and repainted in oils to look more lifelike than the original painted features. The traditional Mary stands on the snake on top of the globe. Joseph holds the child Jesus, who holds the world, in one hand and a lily symbolizing Mary in the other hand. Both plaster statues have attached bases which are painted to resemble marble.

These are beautifully done. I can appreciate the work as I once was a manikin artist for department store.
