Moon Dance©

Momentarily I'm teaching my students how to get an interesting texture as a background.

For this painting I used a 50-50% mixture of a gloss gel medium and an ordinary joint compound. (It will be hard as a rock after a day!)
While still wet I imprinted netting of vegetables, anti slip under-carpeting, bubble- and plastic wrap.
After 12 hours I sanded the rough edges and started painting the background with different layers of rich copper tones.
Then I painted my deep turquoise moonlight dancers.

In nature the blue/green turquoise forms when there is copper present. Therefore this combination is so rich!

To get the colors uplifted I added a little bit of a complimentary color (red/yellowish gold in the background) to give the copper tones an extra enhancement!
Result: a conjugation of complimentary colors of this expressionistic Moon Dance!

I personally am quite happy with the end result .
Unfortunately on your screen you won’t get THE real sense of the copper painted background, and the real color of the deep turquoise dancers.
During the day , when the light is changing, the painting will look different than at night with artificial light.(2nd picture)

Acrylics on a canvas panel 16"x20" [40.6x50.8 cm]
Framed in a walnut wooden frame with a touch of gold.

Moondance

Well, it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush.

Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love
Can I just make some more romance with a- you, my love.
