A Museum in a Station

The history of the Orsay Museum (Musee d'Orsay), of its building is quite unusual. In the centre of Paris on the banks of the Seine, opposite the Tuileries Gardens, the museum was installed in the former Orsay railway station, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. So the building itself could be seen as the first "work of art" in the museum which displays collections of art from the period 1848 to 1914. The photo was take on July 28, 2007.

Hello Lili! This is a great shot of the Musee D'Orsay. It houses the impressionists paintings and we've spent many a happy hour there and hop to be doing just that again soon. I never tire of Paris. When you go up to the restaurant you can see the old the old railway clock through the window. Love it!
