These are part of a small herd of buffalo in Lewisville, Texas. Their pastures are adjacent to a mini-storage facility and a large tract of land being developed possibly as an office park. The poor bison just endured a year or more of major road construction on the small end of their range. I doubt the resident homeowners were thrilled with all the noise and dirt either.

Great capture, Brenda! Beautiful shot!

Artist Reply: thank you, Lili! it is always tricky with bison due to their very thick fur and the dark color; it just soaks up the light and this was a cloudy day. One also needs to move slowly and carefully when approaching the fence so as not to alarm them.

WOW....what a story...i didnt know they have bisons in texas...they should take them to the wilderness of montana or wy...that is to bad.....awsome capture...

Artist Reply: thanks, bianca; actually there are a number of herds in Texas; there is a working ranch on the edge of town where I live that educates people, welcome visitors to observe them and also sell the meat; it is the healthiest red meat by far: very low fat, totally grass fed and free range.
