Wading for Prey

This is really quite typical habitat for Blue Herons around the area where I live. This shot was taken in mid November so the grasses were dead and had taken on a golden to reddish-brown hue. These birds basically turn to stone as far as movement is concerned when they are waiting for small fishes to swim by. They're strikes are almost lightning fast.
